In time, in tune, with feeling
I went up to High Falls, NY (Gerry’s house) to record vocals this weekend and it was very productive.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Just keeping you posted on the progress.
Hope you are all doing great.

Hi Duncan… Great news! Really looking forward to your new album. Hope you are keeping well also. Just a question is your new album going to be anything like daylight or maybe like your previous work ie The Humming?. Daylight was by far some of your best work. Mind you I love The humming also, fav song is Rubbed Out. DS also when your not singing your own work what do you find yourself singing lately?….Later Duncan. Alll the best.
Jason:)

Duncan, thanks for the update. Can’t wait to hear the new stuff. I’m also curious about what kind of feel this album might have. Unless, of course, that’s a surprise… Take it easy.

Duncan, glad to see that you’re communicating with your fans, it really means a lot to us. I’m always looking forward to the day when you’ll come back to Bimbo’s 365 in SF or somewhere equally as intimate. :)
I’m hoping that things progress well and that the new album and studio work out for you. I am curious as to the projects you’re working on, the bands that you’re producing, are they in a similar musical vein as your work or are they more diverse? Anyway, don’t stop making music, there are some of us that truly appreciate what you’re creating.

Thank you for making us a part of it Duncan. I love hearing how things are progressing. It’s much more exciting this way! :)

That sounds great man. I was just listening to your beautiful song ‘Little Hands.’ So beautiful. I can’t believe I’ve had that cd for almost 9 years. I can’t wait for the new album. I love when you and Gerry work together. I was just listening to “The Light Machine” the other night. Great wirk from Gerry. ‘Start Again’ is an amazing song.

Hi Duncan!
I’m a great fan of yours but, unfortunatelly, it’s rare to find your cds in my country (Brazil). I hope I get to know when the next is coming up.
Love

Hmm..Wish I could edit my first post now. Looks like I was being critical but I was not trying to be. I am sure what ever Duncan is doing it’s going to be amazing…..

High Falls, NY, is a beautiful village nestled among waterfalls and apple orchards. It’s a pretty backdrop for music making.
There’s a restaurant up there I like very much, Aroma Thyme Bistro. The chef serves up natural cuisine that tastes dee-lish.

Hi Duncan…..
I’m so happy to hear that. I want to make it up to the City tomorrow, but I’m just not sure of the late night scheduling. Needless to say, I’d love to hear you Guy’s again, if by surprise something is going to be happening? :)
I did however get that job. I start next week. I’m nervous about it. I have alot to prove. The Chief Technical Officer has informed me, that as part of my job, we will be working/meeting with the so called, “Cream of the crop” of society up on Wall Street. It’s a bit of news to make…someone just starting out, a small tad nervous. It holds so much promise though and this man had the insight and vision to give me this chance. Before I left his office…he showed me a photograph on his wall. I hadn’t noticed it behind where I was sitting, but it was a photograph taken from a satellite of the whole World, how it looks at night time. It was called something like, “The Nocturnal World.” On it you could see all of the continents, and most of them were very dark in color. You could also see some very, very tiny golden color lights lit up. I asked him, “What are those?” He said that those lights are the areas where you have Urban areas, which there is development, etc. From a satellite view, these lights were extremely minimal in the world. He said, look at Canada, Africa? Almost all dark…..As I was leaving his office, he said….”Together it is going to be Me and You conquering the World.” Well, that’s a nice thought, but….it’s a very big world. With that in mind Duncan, I want to wish you the very best with your new works, and I am sure they will shine perfectly, as they always do. Afterall, it is the Peace we bring within our hearts and to others that really matters in this life….You have never let us down with all of your kindness, generosity and open heart.
Thanks so much…and see you real soon,
Michele :) I’m very, very excited about the new Music, projects, &
work (s). :) Thank you again Duncan.

Hola Duncan!
Always great to hear from ya! I so wish I could talk to you about the cosmos. I’ve just returned from a long journey across Asia and I have some thoughts lingering, questions about The Daishonin and spirituality in general. We spoke before about such matters (long ago) and it was refreshing indeed. How are you doing with chanting by the way? Can you share any experiences you’ve had recently? I have plenty to share, but the most important is how the power of Diamoku carried me solely across many borders and brought forth such clarity. Oh I have much to share…
Sounds like your new material is coming along just fine. I am so excited for you! Can’t wait to see ya man!
Also, have you ever heard of Patrick Park? Try his album- Lonliness Knows My Name, good stuff. Let me know what you think.
Peace and Much Love,
Roxanne

Thanks for the heads up on the Aimee Mann. I’ve been enjoying Lamb’s cd Between Darkness and Wonder and recommend it to anyone who hasn’t given it a try yet.
Luv to all!

Just discovered the site recently and was very intrigued to find that Duncan is actually posting…OMG! Duncan, any upcoming venues for you out here in the west coast, specifically, San Francisco???
Best of all, good luck on the progress of the album…eagerly awaiting for it :-)
Cheers,

I too just discovered this site. I recently pulled out Humming from my collection to “rediscover” the album, if you will. I just cannot get enough of Bite Your Tongue. It’s a song that hits really close to home; it’s amazing. Listening to the album made me wonder what was going on with DS.
I’m glad you’re still making music and doing what you enjoy Duncan! From the few posts in the blog, it sounds like you are enjoying life. I can’t wait for the new album. :-)

Go DS! Getting the job done, as my boss would say, “New York Style.” Now, in the case of my boss, this phrase generally warns of a sudden, erratic (and highly illegal) driving maneuver. But in your case, we’ll call it…progress.

Hey
first off this blog think is pretty nifty
I know this was a long time ago but I was at the really little concert you gave @ cornell - I got to talk to you quickly at the end but - I just wanted to say again that was awesome - it?s not every day that a visiting musician at cornell gives a concert for the public let a lone a free one. I know the space was small and you had to face a blizzard just to get there - but I guess this place is just crazy like that. By the way - your percussionist extraordinare was great - seriously noting beats acoustic guitar and a good rhythm.
I also went and saw the Nero Project and that was awesome too. I know the assistant director of the show and when I brought up your name she just lit up - I think you really made an impression on them. So kudos all around - I really admire you for trying new things - it all sounds great! Best of luck on the new record!

Just recently got into Duncan’s music and I am disappointed that it took me this long to find such great music. I absolutely love every song I have heard so far. Just bought four DS cd’s and I cant listen to them enough.

Yay! I’ve been a fan of yours since 1997, haven’t been able to find your tour dates since around 2000 though. Glad to hear the progress on (I take it the solo project, not the band one) upcoming CD :0)

Yet another fan who is expressing their excitement about the new upcoming projects your developing. Can’t wait to hear some new songs since I’ve worn out most of the songs on your other cd’s.
Unfortunately I just missed seeing you play in Austin on the 16th, I just accessed your official site today and realized what I missed out on.
Do you have any plans in the near future to return to Austin?

I am also really looking forward to the new album. I think my second copy of daylight is full of holes from being played so much. I just finally figured out the message of “Good Morning”. For the longest time I thought that that it was just an expose’ of the misanthrope in you. I realized yesterday that it is more about recognizing that all of us are fools and that there is no absolute truth. Every day I get closer to being ok with that, thanks to songs like “On a High” and “Reveries”. I guess I’d love to believe that I “get it” but we’ve never even met and I would be even more of a fool for assuming so much. I’ve been playing in the clubs here in South Florida for 17 years and hope to someday share my tunes with you. Daylight got me through some of the hardest times in my life and continues to be an inspiration. Wishing the spirit of music finds you during the recording process and brings you the magical takes we have all come to love. By the way, I would love to sing harmony with you sometime, our voices blend together really well, at least in my car. From one musician to another, thanks for being you, some of us would never have made it without you.
Singing, La…la. la. la. la…laaaaa
