La Dolce Musto

In his 11/21 column, Michael Musto (Village Voice) talked to Duncan about SA. It’s towards the bottom of the page. I approve of Michael’s employment of the term “shtupping” [sic-it’s “schtupping”, no?]. Under-utilized, IMO, so it officially replaces “schmuck” as my go-to Yiddish slang.

SA opens December 10th. I’m considering live-blogging the after-party. Thoughts?

(Oh, yeah-sorry about comment moderation… damn spammers… we’re working on it.)

“Yeah, I wish the Democrats hadn’t won,” Sheik replied, laughing, “because then we would have really been able to say something!” Pause. “No, I’m still happy they won.”

    Ahahahaha brilliant!

I’d hold you to not doing a “Barely Breathing” musical, except that who am I to judge what makes you happy? I’m certain you wouldn’t do something like that just for the cash. Now you just have to come back to us heh

Schtupping and schmuck are two very different words…they are not interchangeable. A schtup can never replace a schmuck, however a schumuck can still schtup (but who would want to schtup a schmuck).

I personally like schlepping and schlocky…those are my go to yiddish words (raised by a Jewish grandmother).

I guess I could conceivably do it from a Blackberry, couldn’t I? Does anyone want to send me one? I don’t think my Amp’d Mobile phone has that capability. It CAN do video clips of the Ultimate Fighting Championship though, so, there’s that.

UPDATE 3:17 PM—And just like that, after almost a week of smooth sailing, we just got a blast of 36 spam comments. And I can’t reproduce any of the subject lines for your amusement because this is a family blog.

Yikes, spammers are a PAIN! No problems over at SheikSpeak so far and I know “Bender”(Tech Master) incorporated something simple. Shall I ask for you?

Additionally, I was really curious as to how the “live-blogging” would work and this is the response from our Tech Master…

“I assume he meant that he would be blogging as things occur, thus have frequent posts, then I suppose a blackberry could do it. Having never really used a phone for that purpose, I imagine it would be a lot easier on a laptop. But then you need an internet connection. Normally people do these things in convention halls and such that have wi-fi. If he can use a phone and use that as a modem (such as Sprint’s power vision), that would solve the problem.”

    And that’s all for now…

    Cheers,

    Lev-yes, please, ask.

re: live blogging- yeah, thanks- i think Wordpress has a mobile interface that will render on a blackberry’s web browser. I’ll be far too busy drinking to be worrying about a laptop.

    Duncan,
Not sure how often you read this…but were you at all influenced by the group “Bread?” Check out their song…”It don’t matter to me” I can almost here some of your backup guitars, bass, synth/violins on it. Of course, the vocals don’t compare to yours. A re-make of that song (by you) would be awesome.

    cheers,

    alex
